About Richard
From China strategy to investment and business development.
Richard’s career has spanned over twenty years in government, corporate and entrepreneurial roles, giving him an unique perspective on China’s business environment.
He began his China career in finance and international business, and later held senior management roles in Asia-Pacific at foreign invested enterprises in maritime, automotive and advanced manufacturing industries.
He served at the Netherlands Embassy in Beijing, as Chief Representative of the Netherlands Business Support Office in Nanjing, and as Economic Counselor at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

Today, Richard combines his academic commitment to education and research through the Institute for China Studies with his professional advisory work through AMC China.
At the Institute for China Studies, he develops executive education and applied research on China’s business, economic, regulatory and institutional environment. Through AMC China, he supports businesses and organizations with market entry, investment, strategy, finance, restructuring and organizational transformation. Together, these roles enable him to bridge academic insight and practical business experience, helping organizations make better-informed decisions in China.
