Ms. Bei Wang, MA

With teaching experience across research universities, universities of applied sciences, and professional training environments, Ms. Wang is committed to bridging theory and practice. She regularly develops and delivers masterclasses, guest lectures, and industry workshops, helping students and professionals translate academic concepts into real-world strategies. Her work reflects a strong pedagogical focus on connecting academic perspectives with professional application in rapidly evolving digital and cultural landscapes.
Ms. Wang is a lecturer in Creative Business at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, where she specializes in digital humanities, tech narratives, twin green and digital transition, and innovation in the creative industries. She is the founder and coordinator of the Digital China Minor; a program designed to integrate academic insights with hands-on professional skills and prepare students for work in globalized digital markets. In addition to her teaching at HU, she is a PhD researcher at Utrecht University, investigating digital transformation in China and the Global South.
Her professional background spans international NGOs, global media, and digital consulting. She began her career at Greenpeace International, followed by a pivotal role at Dutch public broadcaster RNW Media, where she served as Head of the Chinese Department. She launched RNW’s digital media platform in mandarin Chinese and represented the Netherlands in China during international cultural and media exchange initiatives. In 2015, she co-founded FIVE Degrees, a brand management and digital consulting firm specializing in the Chinese market. Her industry experience continues to inform her of teaching and research, ensuring a constant exchange between scholarly knowledge and sector-specific expertise.
Beyond academia, Ms. Wang is a Board Member of the Pan Asian Collective (PAC). She has served on the jury of the Mobius Advertising Awards and is a frequent keynote speaker at major industry events, including Advertising Week Europe, the European Women in Tech Conference and ADCE European Creativity Festival.
Her work is driven by a commitment to connecting academic inquiry with professional practice, equipping the next generation of interdisciplinary professionals with critical, globally informed perspectives on digital transformation and sustainable innovation.
