About the Institute for China Studies

The Institute for China Studies is an emerging knowledge hub dedicated to advancing understanding of China’s economic and business environment. We develop high-impact educational programs for global professionals engaging with China, offering masterclasses, certificate courses and diploma courses and executive coaching across key disciplines such as Sales & Business Development, Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, Investment and Entrepreneurship.

Role overview

We are seeking seasoned business professionals to join our academic programs as Expert Contributors. Unlike traditional lecturers or academics, Expert Contributors serve as real-world voices from the field by sharing practical insights, case experiences, successes, failures, and strategic lessons from their professional journey. Your role is not to teach theory, but to enrich structured courses with lived experience, providing learners with authentic, applicable, and unfiltered business knowledge.

Key contributions

Share personal case studies, success stories, and lessons learned from operating in China or China-related markets.

Participate in formats such as:

  • Guest interviews or fireside chats
  • Case walkthroughs or scenario-based discussions
  • Short video insights (“real-world takeaways”)
  • Panel dialogues with instructors or fellow practitioners
  • Validate and provide feedback on course materials, ensuring they reflect current market realities.
  • Offer mentorship-style perspectives on risk, negotiation, government relations, sales execution, financing strategies, and cross-cultural management.

Required profile

  • 10+ years of professional experience in Sales, Business Development, Finance, Investment, Trade, Corporate Strategy, or Government Relations, ideally with China exposure.
  • Track record in leading deals, managing teams, closing partnerships, raising capital, or navigating regulatory systems.
  • Strong communication skills—comfortable speaking candidly in structured conversations or recorded sessions.
  • Authentic, reflective mindset, willingness to share not just successes, but failures and hard-earned lessons.

Preferred attributes

  • Experience collaborating with foreign and Chinese stakeholders across public or private sectors.
  • Ability to distill practical wisdom into concise takeaways for learners.
  • Prior speaking, mentoring, or panel participation is a plus—but formal teaching experience is not required.

What we offer

  • A platform to shape the next generation of professionals engaging with China.
  • High visibility within an elite network of academics, policymakers, and industry leaders.
  • Flexible involvement, contribute once or become a recurring expert voice.
  • Honorarium or partnership arrangement depending on engagement format.
